This chapter began on 2016, with an online dating message starting with…
“Hey, I’m Richard… How’s life in Mississippi?”
Yes, dear ones, we met online. After exchanging thousands of messages and video calls, we finally decided to meet in person. On that day, we both had what’s inevitable, nerve-racking thoughts of “what we are getting ourselves into…” New Orleans is our witness.
As we began flying to each other’s cities to meet, the next chapter of “Boyfriend and girlfriend” started. Distance was not an impediment for us. It became the motor for our weekend getaways to concerts, camping, hikes, bubble tea tasting, and sightseeing unusual areas of each town to capture unique pictures.
The years passed and our love for each other grew, giving title to a new chapter, “The Meeting of the Parents”. This time, Richard’s parents traveled to meet Cusi’s parents to follow cultural traditions. During The Meeting of the Parents, Richard pulled out the ring and asked “Quieres casarte conmigo?” Cusi said “yes!”
Leading to this new chapter we now title the “I do” which you will be part of.
Why Costa Rica?
Costa Rica holds a big, sentimental value in our hearts. Its people, the beauty, and detailed creation of its nature are amazing. Sadly there are threats to its preservation. It is true that we cannot solve all the issues and injustices of the world; bringing light to different issues that affect our population is one way we thought we could do on our part. The abuse of Pachamama (mother earth) due to farming of pineapples and bananas and fighting of native Costa Ricans to protect natural resources is a sad and hidden reality.
So you may wonder, what can I do about it or what does it have to do with me? Very simple. WE, are consumers of these products. Our hope is to raise awareness about the farming of these products and the need to protect this paradise. On your visit to Costa Rica, we hope that you enjoy your stay to the max. We encourage you to support local vendors and providers as much as you can. For example, choose local markets instead of Walmart. Try local coffee instead of Starbucks in Costa Rica.
